SASKATOON – The Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan and parking meter upgrades are on city council's agenda for Monday evening.

Council will discuss including deferred items into the Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan/River Landing parkade project.

Deferral helped the project hold fixed prices while allowing additional time for fundraising.

A report recommends extra projects totalling $1,597,160 be funded by Remai Art Gallery, which has already raised $695,640.

The city is being asked to temporarily cover the remaining $901,520 to meet one of EllisDon's construction deadlines on Tuesday.

A request for proposals (RFP) to upgrade the city's parking meters is up for approval at council.

The request is now asking for meters to accept parking ticket payments, for pricing to be a lump sum and no refunds for unused meter time. The RFP deadline would be Dec. 19, 2013.

The city says the upgrade to parking infrastructure may increase revenue and reduce reliance on residential property taxes.

A change order costing approximately $56,400 with ASL Paving Ltd. is needed to successfully complete sidewalk work for the 25th Street Extension Project.

The completed extension, from Idylwyld Drive to 1st Avenue, is expected to open by Dec. 1, 2013.

Councillors will be asked to consider an amended procedural bylaw for times when the city is faced with an emergency.

The amendment allows a member of council to waive notice of a special meeting without a day's notice.

Also on the agenda, a $150,000 pagoda is being donated to the city from the Saskatoon Zhongshan Ting Committee, in partnership with the Chinese Cultural Society.

Their application has met all criteria and needs council's approval for the structure to be placed in Victoria Park next summer.

The gift is in recognition of Chinese immigrants who have settled in Saskatoon.
